What we suspected (rumors, beta invitation packed with Medal of Honor) is official now: Battlefield 3 will be released this year. I hope it will walk on the golden path, so all the hc Battlefield geeks and all the Bad Company-Call of Duty casual gamers will be satisfied. There is a chance for this, but probably the scale will tilt toward old BF fans. Some information: There will be crawling (huh, this really wasn't such a big deal in BC2, but whatever), planes come back, you can draw your wounded companion behind covers, some improved animation system (like in EA sport games). The game rides on Frostbite 2 engine (BC2 had the 1.5 version), so there will be some spectacles with destroyable environment. Multiplayer is still the central theme with 64 characters on the same map on PC, but there will be single player mode too, in which Uncle Sam will beat some evil people speaking with an accent. Even the single player have coop maps, so maybe you won't be a supersoldier, rather some little team makes the red and blue flag flutter further. You can watch the teaser below – the flow of videos and screenshots probably starts during the GDC in March or during the E3. The date is in winter this year, so they still can make it bad, but it is surely on my wanted list, because it seems good enough. Of course, we can still curse the Sweden guys: Battlefield 1943 is late for one and a half years now, and the coop mode of Bad Company 2 was released only on consoles, and was canceled on PC. We should focus on BF3, maybe they had no time for it... Anyway, it will have to be superb.
